The incident had happened during a Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings clash in last year's IPL.

Batting in the last over for Delhi Capitals against Chennai Super Kings, Ishant smashed a boundary and a six off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling, which prompted Dhoni to abuse the left-arm spinner.

"Last year in the IPL, Mahi bhai (Dhoni) used to make fun of me that I can't hit sixes, saying you don't have that power. Then came Jaddu (Jadeja) and I smashed him for a four and followed it with a six. Then I turned my head towards Mahi bhai to see his reaction, who abused Jaddu," he told Gaurav Kapur on a Youtube show Isolation Premier League.

Last week, Ishant recalled his memorable performances in the longest format and said he can't pick between his seven-wicket haul at Lord's in 2014 and the fifer he took in India's maiden pink ball Test against Bangladesh in November 2019.

"Both of them are equally memorable," he had said in a video tweeted by his IPL side Delhi Capitals.

"Taking seven wickets at Lord's is obviously something I can't forget. And taking those five wickets with the pink ball also I can't forget because after 12 years I had taken a five-wicket haul."

Ishant Sharma was the Player-of-the-Match in India’s historic 95-run victory in the 2014 Lord’s Test. He returned with the figures of 7/74 in the second innings to trigger England’s collapse.

In the pink ball Test against Bangladesh, Ishant claimed nine wickets to script a thumping innings and 46-run victory for India. The lanky pacer finished with the figures of 5/22 and 4/56 across the two innings.
