Lasith Malinga bowled a perfect over to win the final and fourth title for MI | AFPThe 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was supposed to begin from today, March 29, 2020. The tournament opener was to be played in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, between defending champions Mumbai Indians and finalists of last year, Chennai Super Kings.

Everything was set to begin with fans awaiting the return of the most popular and richest T20 league in the world. Then everything fell apart due to the rapid spread of the Coronavirus pandemic which then led to BCCI postponing the tournament till April 15. Indian PM Narendra Modi was then forced to put the entire country in lockdown for 21 days.

"MS Dhoni may have one more burst left in him for India," feels Brad Hogg

This has made the chances of the start of this year’s tournament very slim, given that the virus has taken more than 31,000 lives and affected more than 677,000 people worldwide with India having more than 900 active cases and 25 deaths so far.

Meanwhile, the official Twitter account of the Indian Premier League decided to relive the final over of the last year’s final, which was bowled by Lasith Malinga, who defended 2 runs off the last ball and got Mumbai Indians their fourth title win by just one run. The account tweeted,” WATCH: THAT nail-biting last over We look back at the last over of the #VIVOIPL 2019 final when Lasith Malinga's heroics sealed the title for @mipaltan #MIvCSK.”

However, fans who were still hurting from the fact that they won’t be able to watch and enjoy their favorite players and franchises in the tournament which was supposed to start from today, March 29, decided to react in hilarious ways, showing their pain and disappointment.
