The recent outbreak of Coronavirus has not only created a sense of panic amongst the people but also it has affected all the sporting activities. As far as cricket is concerned, this virus has suspended a lot of bilateral series as well as domestic T20 leagues like PSL and IPL.

The BCCI had a meeting with the franchise owners in Mumbai on March 14, when the board president, Sourav Ganguly implied that, “a curtailed IPL,” was the only option with another meeting scheduled on March 24.

But, recently the IPL governing council chairman Brijesh Patel on Monday told that “no meeting is scheduled,” and further added, “not much to discuss about IPL,” at the moment.

Even a franchise executive said that “IPL is the last thing on everyone’s mind,” amidst this coronavirus scare.

While the board and IPL governing council desperately wanted to have an IPL before the window for the tournament was extended till May 31, the board and some franchise sources have indicated that IPL 2020 this year is as good as over.

At first, the cash-rich league was postponed from 29 March to 15 April, but now it is being learnt that the official announcement about calling the season off is unlikely to be taken any time before April second week.
