Last week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rescheduled the start of IPL 2020 from March 29 to April 15 in wake of the novel Coronavirus outbreak, which has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly recently said that the 13th edition of Indian Premier League can only be a truncated one provided the situation improves.

However, as per the latest report in ANI, the Indian board is set to have a conference call with the IPL franchises on Tuesday (March 24) to discuss the fate of the tournament.

"BCCI and IPL franchise to have a conference call on coming Tuesday to discuss the process and further way of IPL 2020," a BCCI source told ANI.

As of Saturday (March 21), India has tested more than 230 positive cases for COVID-19 and recorded four deaths due to the epidemic, which has claimed over 10,000 lives globally while infecting nearly 245,000.

The situation is so grim that BCCI has asked their employees to work from home.

"BCCI office has closed so no meeting can be held there similarly no meeting can be held in the hotel so they have opted conference call," the source added.
