Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has always been the team to watch out for, ever since David Warner took over the side and then Kane Williamson came through. The Australian opener took them to their maiden title in 2016, while the Kiwi star led them to the finals in absence of Warner in 2018.
The IPL 2020 auction was very important for the SRH franchise, as they were looking for a replacement for Shakib-Al-Hasan, who was banned for one year, while they were also looking for options for Yusuf Pathan and Martin Guptill in the batting side of things. IPL 2020: Sunrisers Hyderabad reappoints David Warner as captain
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow had taken the IPL 2019 by storm with their ultra-aggressive batting at the top, as the duo took the opposition bowling apart, even scoring centuries in the same match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), adding 185 runs for the first wicket.
This time as well, Warner has been named captain of the side and Bairstow will be available for the majority of the tournament, unlike the last season.
Kane Williamson had replaced Warner very well as the captain and top run-getter for SRH in IPL 2018 and had a lackluster tournament in 2019 edition, partly due to his injured shoulder and infrequent changes in playing XI. This time, however, the franchise has banked on all-rounders in the auction and has a weakened batting, which can be bolstered with Williamson batting at no.3.

The middle-order may be stocked with Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, and Abhishek Sharma forming the crux of the batting and providing firepower in the later half of the batting. Vijay Shankar is a good medium pacer as well, while Manish Pandey has a proven track record in IPL, along with young Abhishek Sharma trusted with duties of being a finisher.
Rashid Khan and Shahbaz Nadeem might be the spin options for the Warner-led SRH team in the IPL 2020. The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium is a batting paradise, but the other venues like Chennai and Delhi are spin havens, which these two master tweakers might exploit to the maximum. Rashid Khan’s batting abilities, something he displayed in the BBL 09, will come in handy as SRH looks for bonus runs in end overs.
The pace bowling unit may be helmed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, and Khaleel Ahmed. Bhuvneshwar has always been SRH’s trump card, while Sandeep Sharma is lethal with the new ball, which he swings in both ways.
Khaleel Ahmed provides the left-arm option and more pace option to captain Warner. He is also the more aggressive bowler who can turn things around in the blink of an eye.
