As the chronic coronavirus infection outbreak spreads across the world, the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 may also be hit by the sudden rise of the pneumonia epidemic in the Asian subcontinent, as the deadly coronavirus has already impacted various other sports across the world.
The upcoming 13th edition of the IPL 2020 will kick start with a clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on March 29 with the final taking place on 24 May.

However, IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday ruled out any threat to the upcoming cash-rich T20 league due to the deadly coronavirus outburst.
Ganguly has also insisted that the upcoming home series against South Africa is on as per the schedule and there is no threat. The three-match ODI series is starting on March 12 at Dharamsala.
As per reports in PTI, Ganguly said: “Nothing in India. Not even discussed it (Coronavirus).”
Meanwhile, Mr. Patel revealed that the authorities are keeping a tab on the situation in the country, but at the moment there is no threat to the IPL or the South Africa series. He said, “There is no threat as of now and we are keeping a tab (on the situation).”
Noteworthy, the matter came into the light after Delhi has witnessed a sudden rise in demand for surgical and N95 masks as part of precautionary measures to curb the deadly outbreak.
