Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has been named as the captain of Wisden's IPL Team of the Decade with MS Dhoni taking the wicket-keeper’s role.

Wisden has announced its IPL Team of the Decade that mentions Rohit Sharma as the captain and an opener. The announced team follows the ‘max. four foreigners’ rule as it has seven Indians in the team. Sharma, who has won the IPL four times as captain of the Mumbai Indians, will open the innings with Chris Gayle.

The current KXIP opener is regarded as the best T20 cricketer in the world and he is a batsman who cannot be kept out of any T20 Team of the Decade where he is eligible. The No. 3 batsman is Suresh Raina (nicknamed Mr. IPL), who is the second-highest run-getter in the tournament history with 5368 runs in 193 games for Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions.

The No. 4 batsman is even stronger. The highest run-getter in the tournament, Virat Kohli, grabs that spot with 5412 runs under his belt in 177 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The second foreigner on the side is known by many names such as Mr. 360, Superman or AB de Villiers. The South African cricketer has been very consistent for the Bangalore franchise over the last few years.

Arguably the best wicket-keeper that Team India has ever had has played a major role in the success of Chennai Super Kings. He takes the wicket-keeper’s role in the Wisden IPL Team of the Decade. He is also the second-most successful captain in IPL history with three titles in his bag.

His teammate and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja finds his spot in the team as the first spinner. He has scored 1927 runs and picked up 108 wickets in 170 IPL games. He is followed by another spinner, who also enjoys batting at the top, Sunil Narine. The dangerous West Indian cricketer has picked up 122 wickets and scored 771 runs at a strike rate of 168.34 in 110 matches.

There are three seamers in the team. Lasith Malinga and his pupil Jasprit Bumrah from the Mumbai Indians team are joined by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Malinga is the highest wicket-taker in IPL history with 170 wickets in 122 games. Bumrah is the most dependable bowler that Mumbai Indians and Team India are proud to have. The swing bowler from Sunrisers Hyderabad was the most dependable bowler before Bumrah came on to the scene and he grabs the 11th spot.

Wisden’s IPL Team of the Decade:
Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma(c), Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni(wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Sunil Narine, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
