IPL 2020: Mushfiqur Rahim says IPL snub doesn't bother him much

The experienced Bangladeshi cricketer didn't find a buyer in yet another IPL auction.

Mushfiqur Rahim | GettyBangladesh veteran Mushfiqur Rahim is unfazed by lack of recognition in yet another IPL auction as he failed to find a buyer despite his base price of only 75 Lakh in Kolkata this Thursday (December 19).

Mushfiqur has been one of the stalwarts of Bangladesh cricket and so being looked past like this year after year must be a difficult feeling.

"Things like this [being picked or snubbed in the IPL auction table] either happen or they don't but it doesn't bother me too much," Cricbuzz quoted him as saying. "I had some hope but it didn't happen. Life moves on. I have never taken it seriously. Now we are playing in BPL and I want to focus on it."

It is understood Mushfiqur wasn't initially going to put his hat in the ring. "To be honest, I didn't want to send my name at first because I thought no one is going to pick me. So there was no point in keeping my name there," he said.

"But when they [IPL authorities] sent in the request, I thought there may be some chance this time. It did not happen but it is not in my control."

"It is not a big issue for me. I don't know a lot about it. I got to know from [media] about which franchises might be interested. I don't know anything other than that."

The 32-year-old has now played over 350 international games for his country in a career spanning last 15 years and was clearly the best Bangladeshi batsman on show during the tough tour of India in November.
