IPL 2020: Preity Zinta wins Twitter with her heart-warming tweet for young Yashasvi Jaiswal

17-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal who was picked by the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the recently concluded player auction at Kolkata for a whopping price of INR 2.4 Crores will be playing his first tournament next year.

Jaiswal, who was brilliant for Mumbai in domestic cricket this season, became the youngest-ever to score a double hundred in List-A cricket, was listed for a base price of INR 20 Lakhs.

After an initial bid from Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal started a bidding war which ended in RR grabbing the batsman for INR 2.4 Crores.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) co-owner Preity Zinta went on to tweet about this Mumbai-based batsman’s inspirational story and said that IPL is really the place where dreams come true. 17 old Yashasvi Jaiswal used to sell pani puris on the streets for a living 2 years ago. Today this talented cricketer is bought by a franchise in the #IPL2020Auction for 2.40 crores. Fantastic & inspirational story #IPL really is a place where dreams come true,” she wrote on Twitter.

Yashasvi moved to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh when he was just 11 years old. Jaiswal is part of India’s U-19 World Cup team, whose captain Priyam Garg was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 1.90 crore at the auction.
