Only a couple of days left before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction and the hype has started to build up. The auction, which is scheduled on December 19, will take place in Kolkata.
Before the auction, former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain, Gautam Gambhir has expressed his desire to make youngster Shubman Gill captain of the franchise. He feels Karthik has the pressure of bringing KKR success after missing out on two previous years.
"For me, there are not many captaincy options in this team. I will go with Shubman Gill. I will go with a youngster. Dinesh Karthik will have the baggage of two years. He did not perform as per expectations. Go with Shubman Gill, a new young face. He might give new thinking and results," Gambhir told in a chat show in Star Sports.

Karthik had given hope to the franchise with a good start in IPL 2018, but his tactics came under criticism in the last season as KKR struggled to make it to the top four in IPL 2019.
The Knight Riders are a reputed franchise with two IPL title wins in their tally. It is expected that they may add some big names in the side during an auction to increase their chances for the top four.
KKR is known for its strong decisions. Not to forget, the franchise had let the 'icon' of the team Sourav Ganguly go to make Gambhir captain which turned their franchise around.
