Australia speedster Mitchell Starc has decided not to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a second successive year. The left-arm pacer last plied his trade in the cash-rich T20 competition back in 2015 when he represented Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Starc was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2018 auction for a whopping sum of INR 9.4 crore but he failed to feature in the tournament due to leg injury. With the World Cup and Ashes this year, the lanky paceman had also opted out of the IPL 2019 auction.

England Test skipper Joe Root is another notable name missing from the auction pool of 971 players.

On the other hand, Starc’s teammates Glenn Maxwell, Chris Lynn among others have listed their names in the player's auction, slated to be held in Kolkata on December 19.

Maxwell and Lynn will be up for grabs and have set their base price at the maximum of Rs 2 crore. Other big names to list their base price at Rs 2 crore include Australia fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, South Africa pace legend Dale Steyn and Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews.

Among other big overseas names in the auction list is South Africa pacer Chris Morris, who became the only retained player in 2018 to be released ahead of the upcoming auction.
