Having won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title three times, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are among the most successful franchises in the lucrative competition. One of the main reasons behind their success is the planning, strategy and wise support staff.

The CSK think tank have never shied away from taking tough decisions and with the IPL trading window approaches its end, they are again expected to make some changes in the squad which can help them free up some funds to buy more players in the auction, slated to be held in Kolkata on December 19.

Meanwhile, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has named three possible cricketers CSK can release before the 13th edition of IPL.

Speaking at the post-lunch session on Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Indore, Gambhir explained the host broadcasters how CSK can bolster their squad.

The former KKR skipper believes Super Kings should let go leg-spinner Karn Sharma, medium pacer Mohit Sharma and England batsman Sam Billings in order to make their side better.

While there are reports of CSK releasing Billings but there has been no official confirmation on that yet.

“With Imran Tahir already in their squad, Karn Sharma will hardly get to play,” Gambhir said.

He also praised the MS Dhoni-led franchise for not changing the core of the side.

“I always believe, in IPL it’s not about youngsters only, it’s about a particular season. That’s what CSK has done so well. They have been referred as an aged side they but concentrated on the present season.”
