The penultimate of the league stages of IPL 2019 will be played between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Chandigarh. KXIP have been eliminated from playoffs race, while a loss here might mean CSK lose their top two spot and a chance to play the first qualifier at home in Chennai.

Kings XI Punjab has never played with the same XI in two consecutive matches and though their logic was picking players according to situations, this also led to low confidence in players who didn’t know when they will be dropped for no fault of their own. This match too, given that they are playing at home, might see KXIP giving rest to some of the players who have done heavy work for them.

This means Mohammad Shami and Chris Gayle might finally get some much-needed rest, given the team is no more in the race of playoffs and Moises Henriques and Ankit Rajpoot might come into the XI.

Chennai, on the other hand, has a captain that hates making changes to his XI, unless someone is injured or ill. MS Dhoni has found success in Chennai, playing three spinners, but on a surface like Mohali’s, he might be enticed to bring in a fast bowler. But given that the match is a day affair, and that means no issues of dew coming in, Dhoni might stick with the same XI that routed DC, with Harbhajan Singh playing on his home ground.
