Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni has been fined half of his match-fee for reacting inappropriately against the onfield umpires' decision during the match versus Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Thursday (April 11).

The incident happened on the fourth delivery of the last over bowled by Ben Stokes with CSK needing 8 runs from 3 balls to win. The clearly visible no-ball signal given by umpire Ulhas Gandhe for a slower-ball turned waist-high full-toss against Mitchell Santner from Stokes was not upheld and even revoked by square-leg umpire Bruce Oxenford.

Mitchell Santner and Ravindra Jadeja ran two off that ball, and should've had the luxury of a free-hit to follow, but the deserving opportunity of easing up the task was not given to Chennai and that left Dhoni absolutely furious.

He immediately walked into the playing arena and sought clarification from the two umpires. But yet they didn't refer the matter to the third umpire and decided themselves that the ball would not have been above the waist.

The replay later confirmed that it was actually a no-ball. Chennai were left needing 6 runs off the last two balls. However, Santner then smashed away Stokes for a maximum off the last ball to win the game for his team.

But Dhoni's animated reaction didn't go unnoticed at all. It, in fact, took all the limelight away from the game and became the talk of the town.

"MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain, was fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the Indian Premier League's Code of Conduct during his team's match against Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur," said a media release from IPL. "Dhoni admitted to the Level 2 offence 2.20 of the IPL's Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction."
