Earlier Kings XI Punjab won the toss and asked Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first. Sunrisers started off poorly and lost inform Jonny Bairstow for just 1 run. David Warner and Vijay Shankar too struggled and couldn't score quick runs and by the 10th over they scored only 50 runs. In the second half of the innings David Warner played some shots and brought up his fifty and in the end cameos from Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda helped Sunrisers to post a fighting total of 150/4.
In reply, Chris Gayle started his innings with a four and six but he couldn't last long and Rashid Khan dismissed him on his first ball. KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal took the charge to rebuild the innings and their 114 runs partnership for the second wicket set the tone. In the end, Kings XI lost a few wickets but KL Rahul was there to take them home in the last over. Man of the Match KL Rahul scored 71* runs off 53 balls.
