Royal Challengers Bangalore slumped to their sixth successive defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League as Delhi Capitals beat them by four wickets at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday (April 7).

Set into bat first, RCB posted 149/8 in 20 overs with captain Virat Kohli (41 runs off 33 balls) being the top-scorer. In reply, DC rode on Shreyas Iyer’s 50-ball 67 to reach the target with four wickets and seven balls to spare.

After the match, former South African all-rounder Albie Morkel suggested the Bangalore-based franchise to move on from the legendary duo of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Morkel, who has won two IPL titles with Chennai Super Kings, believes planning without Kohli and AB can make RCB a force to reckon in the cash-rich tournament.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “@RCBTweets needs to plan without AB & Virat to be a force in the IPL. Both unbelievable players but it takes more to win trophies.”

In the Indian Premier League, Virat and De Villiers have been batting together since 2011 and have broken quite a few records. The pair have shared two 200-run partnerships in the IPL thus far – most by any batting pair to own such a record in Twenty20 cricket.
