The 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 saw Delhi Capitals hosting Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. SRH had won their last game against RCB by a huge margin, while DC was coming off an embarrassing loss against KXIP.
Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the toss and chose to bowl first. The SRH team went in unchanged, while DC brought in Rahul Tewatia, Akshar Patel and Ishant Sharma, three changes from their playing XI from the last game.
Shaw (11) and Dhawan (12) only managed to add 14 runs for the first wicket. Then the middle order in Rishabh Pant, Rahul Tewatia, and Colin Ingram all made 5 runs apiece. Chris Morris (17) and Shreyas Iyer (43) with help of Akshar Patel (23*) took the score to 129/8 in 20 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/27), Mohammad Nabi (2/21) and Siddharth Kaul (2/35) were the pick of Hyderabad bowlers.
In reply, David Warner (10) and Jonny Bairstow (48 in 28 balls) added 64 runs in the first 6.5 overs to lay a good platform for the following batsmen. Dc made a brief comeback as they removed Vijay Shankar (16), Manish Pandey (10), Hooda (10) in quick succession. But Yusuf Pathan (9*) and Mohammad Nabi (17*) took SRH to the win with a six. SRH won by 5 wickets and DC was handed their 3rd defeat in the 5th match.
Cricket fraternity reacted as SRH registered their third straight win in the tournament and DC losing their 3rd match out of five played.
