IPL 2019: BCCI clears rumors of IPL fixing after the Rishabh Pant video goes viral

IPL 2019: BCCI clears rumors of IPL fixing after the Rishabh Pant video goes viral

There were talks about match fixing on social media where Pant predicts what happens on next ball.

A video on social media went viral where Delhi Capitals (DC) wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant can be seen talking about a boundary and the next ball, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Robin Uthappa actually hits a boundary off spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.

That sparked rumors of the game being fixed already among the cricket fans. It was said that Pant already knew what is going to happen on the next ball and he actually spoke about it which was caught on stump mic.

But as per BCCI official, in a chat with PTI, he cleared that it wasn't a prediction by Pant. He was just asking the DC captain Shreyas Iyer to move fielders as there is an opportunity of a boundary.

In the video which is viral on social media, Pant said,  “yeh to chauka hai” (this is a boundary) as Uthappa took to guard against Sandeep. The next delivery was pushed through the covers for a boundary.

“No one heard what Rishabh said before that particular sentence. He was apparently telling (Delhi Capitals captain) Shreyas Iyer to increase fielders on off-side to stop an imminent four,” a top BCCI official told PTI.

The context of Pant's comment isn't clear in the clip shared on social media. Meanwhile, Hotstar has filed a legal complaint to remove the illegal use of their footage from Twitter.

The BCCI official said that it was “very unfortunate” that social media ran an incomplete clipping. “Maligning a young cricketer without even knowing the details is so unfortunate. A section of media allowed social media to insinuate and vilify a young talent without getting into details. This is so disgusting,” said the official.
