Imran Tahir, on Friday, 29 March, lavished praise on his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni, saying they are grateful to have leading by the coolest cricketer in the world.
Dhoni earned the ‘Captain Cool’ tag while he was leading the Indian Cricket Team and even widely applauded by many for his cool and composed attitude at any situation and Tahir is among those who also admires his IPL skipper’s influence both on and off the field.
Since the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) way back in 2008, the vintage wicket-keeper batsman has been leading the CSK the same way -leading the franchise to three IPL titles to become one of the successful captains in the tournament and ace leg-spinner said he loves playing under the ‘Captain Cool’ in the T20 event.
The defending champions started off the IPL 2019 on a bang having won both matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) and Tahir is hoping to maintain the winning streak in the tournament, as they are looking to torment Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next match on Sunday, 31st March, at home ground -Chepauk.
Speaking to CSK official website, Tahir said, “We have got the coolest cricketer in the world leading us. And, under him, we are a very calm and a composed group. In a competitive league like Indian Premier League, getting a start like that is always nice. Hopefully, we can carry on like this in the upcoming games.”
On the age factor, South Africa believes that experience is the most crucial factor to get success in the T20 format of the game and CSK are a very experienced side in the IPL 2019 that really makes difference for the franchise in the tournament.
He added, “We are very experienced side. The guys have seen pressure situations so many times in their career that it becomes somewhat easier to cope with pressure. We have got the skills to cope with it. As a group, we are now together for a second year and we respect each other and the team culture. We are putting the hard yards and that’s more important for us than anything else.”
The leg-spinner also promised the CSK fans that the franchise will give their best in every game whether be it home or way in the IPL 2019.
Tahir Signed off by saying, “The CSK fans have been really supportive and behind us all the time. I’d like to promise them that we are putting in the hard yards and give our best, be it home or away.”
