In the IPL 12 season, we have seen many fast bowlers pulling out of the tournament due to various reasons. MI lost Adam Milne and Kolkata Knight Riders lost Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti among others. Now Chennai Super Kings has joined their ranks, as their England recruit David Willey has decided to pull out of the entire tournament.
Because of the late birth of his second child, David Willey’s stint with CSK was delayed a lot and now he feels that it won’t be the right thing leave his wife, Carolynne, at this stage and with the understanding of CSK head coach Stephen Fleming, decided that it would be too late for him to team up with the franchise at any stage.
"Unfortunately, due to family reasons, I've had to pull out of the IPL. Chennai was very understanding and supportive as Yorkshire have been as well. It's never an easy decision. Nonetheless, it's the right decision for the family. We are due to have our second baby and my wife has had a bit of a tough time so I need to be in England,” Willey said at Yorkshire's pre-season media day.
"I need to put the family first at the minute. If we can get that sorted then I can concentrate on the cricket. I'm here in Yorkshire and it's a bit open-ended when I'll be available for selection, but hopefully I'll definitely be ready for the 50-over competition," Willey added.
Willey was retained by CSK this year after he had been a late replacement call for the IPL 2018 champions last year.
