Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga has joined the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad ahead of the clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Bengaluru.
Malinga has been an old member of MI. He wasn't picked last year, but the team management decided to get him back this season. There was a time when Malinga used to win MI games single-handedly. He was master of yorkers and it was difficult for the batsman to get under the ball and hit him for a six.
The unorthodox fast bowler might have lost his charm. But there is still some cricket left in him and Malinga said he will try to win matches for Mumbai this year.
Malinga before joining the MI camp said, “I am really happy to be here. This year also looking forward to play for Mumbai Indians. I will try my best to win all the matches."
Here’s the video: "#OneFamily, ready to witness toe-crushers again in that jersey number 99? ???? SLINGA IS BACK! ????????????#CricketMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians," MI wrote.
Malinga was initially unavailable to play for MI in first six games as the Sri Lankan cricket board has made it mandatory to feature in their domestic one-day tournament in order to be in contention for World Cup 2019.
The issue was later sorted out and Malinga, after missing the first game, came back to the squad.
