The fourth match of the IPL 2019 saw Rajasthan Royals host the Kings XI Punjab at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, in Jaipur. This was the first match for both the franchises and both were aiming to impress and Punjab was looking for their ever win in Jaipur against Royals.

Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to chase. Steve Smith made his IPL comeback, while Sam Curran made his IPL debut for KXIP. KL Rahul was dismissed for 4 runs, but Chris Gayle made 79 in 47 balls with 4 sixes and 8 fours and completed his 4,000 runs in IPL in his 112th innings and was the fastest to reach the milestone. His innings and cameo from Sarfaraz Khan (46* in 29 balls) took KXIP to 184/4 in 20 overs. Ben Stokes was the best bowler for RR with 2/48 in four overs.

This moment of Ashwin to mankad Buttler will live in IPL infamy | AFPRR got a good opening start with Rahane (27) and Buttler (69 off 43 balls) added 78 runs in 8 overs. Rahane was dismissed by Ashwin, who then controversially mankaded Buttler without giving him a warning and potentially changed the course of the game.

Rajasthan Royals continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and lost the plot totally and managed just 170/9 and lost the match by 14 runs. Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the pick of KXIP bowlers with 2/31. KXIP registered their first win in Jaipur against RR in all IPL.
