IPL 2019: MS Dhoni is a true match winner and a true legend of the game, says Varun Aaron

Varun Aaron has played IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils.

Varun Aaron trains with Rajasthan Royals | TOI photoIndian fast bowler Varun Aaron will return to the IPL fold with Rajasthan Royals. Aaron hadn’t found any buyers for the IPL 2018 edition and now that he is fit and raring to go, he is looking forward to helping RR become the IPL champions for the second time.

Aaron is one of the fastest bowlers to play international cricket and had clocked 153 kmph in 2011 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He then made his India debut in the same year under MS Dhoni’s leadership. However, injuries and form have limited his appearances to just 9 Tests and 9 ODIs for India, with the last match coming against South Africa in 2015 in form of the Bengaluru Test.

Recently in an interview with Timesofindia.com, Aaron talked about playing under MS Dhoni and about the chances of RR winning the IPL 2019.

Varun Aaron and MS Dhoni | TwitterAaron called Dhoni a true legend of the game and an absolute match-winner. He said, “He is a legend of the game and a true match winner. He is marshaling all the youngsters. His presence (alone) will be enough for India in the World Cup.

Aaron also gave an update on his preparations for IPL 2019, saying, “Training is going really well. I have played practice matches and underwent rigorous training sessions. I have done well in the domestic tournaments. I am ready for the tournament.

He will be playing for Rajasthan Royals, who made the top four in IPL 2018. Talking about the team’s chances in IPL 2019, Aaron said, “We have a balanced side. It is really a good unit. We have a lot of match winners, which is a big positive for the Royals. If you look at the previous performances, RR have been a dominant side. This year too, RR will go as favorites to lift the IPL title.

Talking about his ability to bowl really fast, Aaron said,” It’s a talent given to me by God. I am really thankful to God for this. I really enjoy bowling fast and want to generate as much pace (as I can) in my career. I have trained harder and maintained my body. My work ethics, my will, and determination are the reasons behind this. I can still generate much pace.

Aaron was very confident of him making his comeback to the Indian team and said, “The only reason I play cricket is to play for India and to win matches for India. I am really confident of making a comeback to the Indian team. I am sure it is going to happen very soon. I am really looking forward to the IPL and want to give my best. I am sure I will wear the Indian jersey soon.

Aaron also praised Jasprit Bumrah, saying, “He is a great talent. His ability to nail the yorkers, especially in the death overs, is outstanding. Not just limited-overs cricket, he has done immensely well in the Tests. I feel he is a brilliant bowler and I am sure he will play for India for many years.
