Shane Warne has denied reported claims of him asking for a ban on Ricky Ponting from the Indian Premier League(IPL), where he is the head coach of Delhi Capitals.

Legendary wrist-spinner, as per Mumbai Mirror, had questioned his ex-teammate on conflict of interest for upholding a role in Delhi Capitals' coaching staff when Ponting is now assistant coach to the Australian team till this year's ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales.

Rajasthan Royals' brand ambassador was learnt to have cited the example of Ravi Shastri, who because of his position in the current Indian national team can't commentate or be part of the coaching staff of any IPL franchise.

"But on the first point, this is not for me to say but if the BCCI decides Ravi Shastri cannot be part of the IPL, then I don’t see how Ricky can be," he was quoted saying.

But the same report has been rubbished by Warne himself on his official Twitter handle.

"Articles on me saying Punter should be banned from the IPL are simply not true - so stop the BS," he posted, "When asked, I said it would be a silly move from the BCCI to not allow him to coach Delhi because he’s ass coach of Aust. But if that's the decision - then he would have to accept it! (sic)."
