IPL 2019: Australian stars Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins pull out of the auction

Aware of the grueling long International schedule that Australia has, fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins are all set to miss next year's much-anticipated edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL).

An integral part of the fast bowling arsenal that the team from down under possess, Cummins and Starc decided to avail a break ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup in England and the away Ashes later in the summer following the footsteps of star batsmen Glenn Maxwell and Aaron Finch.

Maxwell and Finch confirmed the development earlier today as the news of them not registering for the IPL auction broke through via a report from Mumbai Mirror. Starc and Cummins have not gone down that route, either.

Bought for a huge price in the IPL 2018 auction, Starc and Cummins didn't turn up for Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians respectively in the last season as well. But that was down to career-threatening injuries. This time the workload management seems to be the utmost priority rather than an obstacle, and rightly so.

Jaipur has already been confirmed to host the extremely dynamic and interesting auction on December 18. Expected to be a one-day affair, the event will take place for purchase on the 70 slots available - 50 Indians and 20 overseas players - across the eight franchises.

The teams have a total available purse of Rs 145.25 crore. While Chennai Super Kings (CSK) needs to just fill in two spots (both Indians), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has 15 slots available (11 Indians, four overseas players) - the highest among the franchises.
