Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are actively exploring a trade to acquire England all-rounder Liam Livingstone from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL retention deadline on November 17, Cricbuzz reported.
Livingstone was bought by SRH for INR 13 crore at the previous auction. His high price tag versus a quiet season—scoring just 15 runs in two appearances before losing his place in the XI—has prompted discussions around his future.
According to sources, CSK are open to including left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed in the exchange. However, because SRH recently secured veteran left-arm pacer T Natarajan, the exact combination remains fluid and unconfirmed.
Beyond CSK, another unnamed northern IPL franchise has also registered early interest in Livingstone, though their approach remains strictly at the discussion stage.
The final decision rests with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) management, who are currently undecided on whether they want to proceed with a swap or retain the English cricketer.
“The franchises are certainly discussing Livingstone and another player apart from Khaleel in CSK. Multiple players and multiple franchises are involved in the trade discussions, not just two, and nothing has been finalized. It may or may not go through,” sources said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Earlier in day, it was reported that Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are in advanced negotiations for a blockbuster player swap ahead of the IPL 2027 season.
As per a report published in Sportstar, the proposed deal would see India all-rounder Hardik Pandya move to the Ricky Ponting-coached PBKS. In exchange, premier Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod are expected to join MI.
Senior management of both teams have reportedly agreed on the core terms. The necessary documentation is awaiting standard review and processing by the IPL officials.
A formal declaration is highly anticipated in the coming days, well ahead of the revised retention deadline.
