Delhi Capitals (DC) have appointed legendary Sri Lankan pacer Chaminda Vaas as their new fast bowling coach ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season.

The franchise confirmed his arrival on Saturday (October 17), through several creative social media posts.

"World Cup winner and Sri Lanka's best ever. Welcome to Tiger Territory, coach," DC posted. In another post, the IPL team highlighted the elite CV of their new pace bowling coach.

Vaas, who has 761 international wickets (355 in Tests and 400 in ODIs) to his name, replaces former Indian seamer Munaf Patel, who held the position for the previous two seasons.

This marquee signing adds up to the heavily restructured, star-studded support staff assembled by the Capitals as they chase their maiden IPL title.

After two disappointing seasons under Hemang Badani, the franchise has made sweeping changes to its coaching staff. Sourav Ganguly will be acting as their head coach next season, while Yuvraj Singh has joined as assistant and batting coach. There have been reports of Amit Mishra coming on board as the spin bowling coach; however, his appointment is not yet confirmed.

During his playing days, Chaminda Vaas featured in the IPL for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers between 2008 and 2010. He brings vast international coaching experience to the DC camp, having previously served as the bowling coach for the Sri Lankan men's team across three separate stints, alongside consultancy roles with New Zealand and Ireland.
