Suryakumar Yadav has seemingly put an end to the speculation about his future in the Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the IPL 2027 season. The ex-India T20I captain has revealed that the upcoming season will be his 10th year with the five-time IPL champions MI, confirming his association.

Suryakumar Yadav’s revelation came shortly after reports stating that he was parting ways with RISE Worldwide, the sports management agency that has represented him since 2021. RISE Worldwide has links with Reliance, which owns the Mumbai Indians.

The announcements have also brought about some speculation over the period of time he has been associated with MI, even though there has not been any statement from either the player or the team on the end of the relationship.

However, there has not been any formal statement made by either of the parties that the association between Suryakumar Yadav and RISE has come to an end.

Suryakumar Yadav has himself spoken about his future with Mumbai Indians and described his connection with the team in extremely positive terms.

“When I put my step in Wankhede again, it will be my 10th year with Mumbai Indians; it's a beautiful journey. I am always excited. It's a festival. I am double excited to play for the franchise, and if you check my blood, it might be blue," Suryakumar Yadav said on Humans of Bombay.  

Suryakumar has been with the Mumbai Indians since IPL 2018 and is one of the most crucial batters in recent times for the franchise. He has scored a total of 4,020 runs in 127 T20 games for MI, in which he made two centuries and thirty fifties.

The role played by the Mumbai Indians in his development process was highlighted by Suryakumar himself, who compared the team to an institution that taught its players how to be disciplined and offered constant support.

"Mumbai Indians is like an institution; you get disciplined—they work on your development all over the year—they have a good facility in Bombay for cricketers all around the year,” he added.

Overall, Suryakumar Yadav has made 4581 runs in 179 IPL games, with a strike rate of 148.58, including two centuries and 31 fifties with the highest score of 103*. He has hit 482 fours and 178 sixes in the league thus far.

Suryakumar won one IPL title with Kolkata Knight Riders, and with MI, he has won the IPL in 2019 and 2020.
