Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise management is reportedly set to review their disappointing IPL 2026 season, and they are unlikely to make any changes at the top. And as per the same report, Stephen Fleming is set to continue as CSK head coach.

Despite recent requests from some quarters for a change in direction, the former captain of New Zealand, who has been with CSK since their first season in 2008 and has been head coach since 2009, still has the team's trust.

Following the team's recent setbacks, some CSK supporters have called for change; "Sack Fleming" campaigns have even surfaced on social media. Fleming is expected to stay in control and serve as head coach for at least the upcoming season; therefore, it is unlikely that the team would change its direction.

In the last 2-3 seasons, CSK’s fortunes have been fluctuating as they have finished 10th in IPL 2025 and 8th in the recent IPL 2026. But still CSK is set to continue with Fleming as coach, as his contract is renewed annually, and Cricbuzz understands that it will be extended once again this year, as has been the case in the past.

He is currently in the United States overseeing Chennai Super Kings' American subsidiary, Texas Super Kings, in Major League Cricket (MLC). He is the head coach there, too.

It is anticipated that the team will analyze their season and make a number of important decisions. However, one of them won't be a discussion about Fleming's contract. The review process won't begin until the current MLC season is over.

The development's clear consequence is that MS Dhoni's opinions are still very important to the team. Not that there was ever a circumstance to the contrary, and the most recent is just another confirmation of Dhoni's ongoing impact on CSK matters.

CSK has also received a few trade inquiries, but an approach for Hardik Pandya is not among them. On Monday, there were rumors that CSK and the Delhi Capitals could consider a deal involving Khaleel Ahmed and David Miller, but both organizations have firmly rejected this.

For the time being, CSK has stated that no player will be spared for trade. However, this was also the franchise's attitude prior to the Ravindra Jadeja signing last season. As things stand, no such move is planned, although trade scenarios in the IPL tend to evolve on their own.
