Rishabh Pant is rumored to return home to the Delhi Capitals (DC) after spending two seasons at the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Pant was picked by LSG in IPL 2025 auction for INR 27 crores, but poor performance as both batter and captain has led to trade talks between the two franchises.

With Pant joining Delhi and Kuldeep Yadav joining the Lucknow Super Giants, a huge transaction is imminent. According to trustworthy sources, the official documentation is with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the agreement is nearly complete.

Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul has been persuaded to leave the Delhi team and enter the auction pool as Pant prepares to play for the team once more.

Dodda Ganesh, a former pacer for Karnataka and India, believes Rahul should request his departure from the team if Pant is to return.

KL Rahul should ask for release and go to the auction if Pant comes back,Ganesh wrote on X, after quoting a Cricbuzz post of Pant’s return to DC.

Rahul and Pant had very different IPL 2026 seasons. In the IPL 2026 season, Pant, who paid INR 27 crore to join LSG, scored just 312 runs for the team. Rahul, on the other hand, amassed 593 runs at a strike rate of 174.41 in 14 games; his best score was 152 not out against the Punjab Kings.

Meanwhile, reports also stated that Yuvraj Singh, India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup hero, is set to join the Delhi Capitals setup ahead of IPL 2027 season. It is worth noting that Pant had worked closely with Yuvraj before the start of the IPL 2026 season.

Before moving to LSG, Pant had played 111 IPL matches for DC, and captained them in 43 matches across three seasons.
