Gujarat Titans (GT) didn’t have a very good night on May 31, 2026. First, they were defeated by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final of the IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. And then their team bus broke down on the way to the team hotel, leaving them stranded on the road.
The team bus carrying the Gujarat players and support crew broke down on the way to the hotel following the IPL final loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as per a report by PTI.
According to the report, the team members, who are all safe and unharmed despite the smoke spreading inside the bus, waited on the road for a brief time before being transferred to another vehicle to the hotel.
Mohammed Siraj, a fast bowler, later revealed confirmation of it in an Instagram story captioned "Breakdown", in which he and three of his teammates are seen sitting on the roadside.
GT faced a lot of problems after defeating the Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 1, as their flight was affected by adverse weather conditions in North India. They had less than a day to get ready for the final after their trip was delayed by almost three hours. The pre-match captains' photo shoot had to be postponed due to the delay.
During the playoffs, Gujarat also had to deal with an arduous travel schedule. They travelled to Dharamsala for Qualifier 1 versus RCB after finishing their league-stage campaign at home. After the loss, they travelled to Punjab for Qualifier 2 before coming back to Ahmedabad for the championship match on Sunday.
Asked to bat first, the famed GT top order, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsa,n and Jos Buttler, failed to fire in the final. Only Washington Sundar’s 50* helped GT score 155/8. In response, Virat Kohli’s 75* took RCB to a five-wicket win and their second successive IPL title.
