IPL 2026: “Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reminds me of Shahid Afridi”- Mohammad Yousuf; Fans ask Yousuf to not jinx the teenager

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi | BCCI-IPLFormer Pakistani cricket captain Mohammad Yousuf has shared his thoughts on 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s performance in the ongoing IPL 2026 for the Rajasthan Royals. With 680 runs to his name in 15 matches so far, he is leading the Orange Cap race in IPL 2026.

He has hit 1 century and four fifties, which include two scores in the 90s. What has been eye-opening is Sooryavanshi’s strike rate of 242, showing how brilliantly the youngster has attacked in the power play.

Vaibhav hit a spectacular innings of 97 runs off just 29 balls for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026 in the Eliminator game, and it appears only a matter of time till he plays India at the international level. Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf also saw the youthful batting wonder in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Yousuf took to social media and stated that seeing Sooryavanshi bat reminded him of a young Shahid Afridi. Yousuf claims that Vaibhav is young, fearless, explosive, and full of energy, much like Afridi in his early years. He was also referred to as cricket's future.

However, Yousuf's comparison of Vaibhav and Afridi did not sit well with cricket fans. Yousuf's tweet has since gone viral on social media, and in the reply area, several fans made fun of the former Pakistani captain for what they described as an odd connection.
