Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 24, 2026, in Mumbai in IPL 2026 in a must-win game and knocked out Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders to qualify for the playoffs. RR will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Eliminator match on May 27 in New Chandigarh.
MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to field first. RR had a scratchy innings with Dhruv Jurel (38), Jofra Archer (32), and Dasun Shanaka (29) taking RR to 205/8 in 20 overs. Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur took two wickets each for MI.
In response, Suryakumar Yadav (60), Will Jacks (33), and Hardik Pandya (34) were the only MI batters to make some substantial runs as they were restricted to 175/6 and lost the game by 30 runs.
After the win, RR's social media team trolled PBKS after qualifying for the final four in the IPL 2026. Punjab Kings, who have received a lot of criticism in cricket circles for the aggressive use of their social media handle, were ridiculed by Rajasthan when the latter advanced to the playoffs on Sunday.
Rajasthan picked up Punjab's tweet, 'Sorry bhai, aaj nahi!' and responded with the iconic Arjun Kapoor meme. Rajasthan used the viral video clip in which Arjun is stranded at the entrance as the other guests enter the house. "Panga na lo"- RR captioned the post.
Rajasthan ripped the mickey out of Punjab, who were eliminated on the final day of the league stage after finishing one point ahead of them in the IPL standings.
But why did Rajasthan respond to Punjab's tweet, 'Sorry bhai, aaj nahi!'?
As it turns out, Punjab's post was in response to the Rajasthan Royals' loss against the Delhi Capitals on May 1. Punjab opted to taunt Rajasthan in a match in which they had no involvement because Rajasthan had made a joke about Punjab after defeating the Shreyas Iyer-led team earlier this season.
Rajasthan had used Salman Khan's 2014 tweet on X and quoted it with a video of Donovan Ferreira, who won the game against PBKS on April 29.
The tweet said, "Zinta's team won kya?" Rajasthan captioned the photo, "Sorry bhai, aaj nahi!"
