Rajasthan Royals (RR) snapped Punjab Kings' (PBKS) undefeated streak in the ongoing IPL 2026 after handing them a 6-wicket defeat in their own home of New Chandigarh on April 28, 2026. RR captain Riyan Parag had won the toss and chose to chase.
PBKS openers Prabhsimran Singh (59) and Priyansh Arya (29) gave a stellar start to their team. Shreyas Iyer (30) and Cooper Connolly (30) played their part perfectly, but it was Marcus Stoinis, who slammed 62* in 22 balls and helped PBKS reach 222/4 in 20 overs.
RR came out with all guns blazing as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s 16-ball 43 took them to 51 runs in 3.2 overs. After Vaibhav got out, Yashasvi Jaiswal continued and scored 51 runs in 27 balls. Riyan Parag contributed 29 runs as well.
But it was Donovan Ferreira (52*) and Shubham Dubey (31*) who absorbed the pressure and took RR to a 6-wicket win in the final over. RR broke PBKS’ undefeated streak as well, with this win.
Ferreira was also named the Player of the Match for his brilliant knock, taking PBKS pacers Arshdeep Singh and Lockie Ferguson to the cleaners in the death overs to turn the tide in the chase.
After the match, RR posted a video of Ferreira 'apologizing' to Bollywood actor Salman Khan after his match-winning knock against PBKS.
Salman Khan had posted on X 12 years ago asking whether Preity Zinta’s team had won the game or not. “Zinta's team won kya?" Salman had posted in 2014.
Reacting to Salman's 12-year-old post about PBKS, which is co-owned by Preity Zinta, Ferreira can be seen saying, "Sorry bhai, aaj nahi" (Sorry brother, not today!).
