Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi talked about his plan to one-up Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowler Praful Hinge when the two sides met for the second time on April 25, in Jaipur, in the ongoing IPL 2026.
Earlier, when the two sides met on April 13 in Hyderabad, Praful Hinge made his IPL debut for SRH and shot to fame by taking three wickets in his debut over, bowling the first over of the match, and became the first bowler in the IPL to do so. And one of his dismissals was of Sooryavanshi.
15-year-old Sooryavanshi has been a nightmare for the opposition, hammering 357 runs in 8 games with a strike rate of 234.66 with one century and two fifties. He has taken apart world-class bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood, both of whom were smashed with absolute disdain for boundaries.
However, Hinge managed to stop the Sooryavanshi onslaught by dismissing him for a duck.
When the two teams met again, Sooryavanshi knew that Hinge would bowl to him again, but this time, he was prepared for the challenge. He revealed that "a lot of things" were said about him after that dismissal, and he just wanted to shut his critics up with the bat.
"I went with a clear plan against the bowler. After getting out in the last match, I went back and checked my phone. I saw a lot of things. I usually don't pay attention to those things, but when someone says something to me personally, it affects me a bit. I only wanted to answer with my bat," he said in a video shared by Rajasthan Royals.
Sooryavanshi ruthlessly attacked Hinge, hitting him for four sixes in the first over itself and going on to score a 36-ball century, his second fastest in the IPL. This was his second IPL ton and the third fastest overall in the IPL.
"You know how important it was for me. I was just trying to do exactly what I did in the practice yesterday. I was playing with a free flow from the very first ball, and I planned to do the same thing today," he said in conversation with RR manager Romi Bhinder.
Sooryavanshi also gave an update on his hamstring injury, saying he will be available for the next game.
"It's fine now. I'm feeling better. I don't know; my foot got stuck. I already had an ankle problem, so to avoid putting too much force on it, I pulled my hamstring. But it's better now. I will recover in time for the next match,” he said.
