The Punjab Kings (PBKS) are being hosted by the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 25, 2026, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bat first.

DC lost Pathum Nissanka for cheap at 11 runs, but then it was carnage by KL Rahul and Nitish Rana. The duo added 220 runs for the second wicket, with Rana making 91 in 44 balls with 11 fours and 4 sixes, while KL Rahul scored a sublime century.

However, KL Rahul would not have gotten to a century if it had not been for PBKS’s Shashank Singh dropping a straight catch at the boundary. Notably, Shashank Singh had dropped three catches in PBKS’s previous game, but at that time, those dropped catches didn’t hinder the team’s win.

However, this time, Shashank’s drop catch might have cost his team their undefeated run in the IPL 2026.

The incident happened in the third over of the DC innings, when on the second ball, Rahul, batting on 12 runs, pulled a short delivery by Arshdeep Singh towards deep square leg. The ball went straight to Shashank Singh; however, the fielder couldn’t hold onto the catch, as the ball burst through his hands and went for a boundary.

Arshdeep Singh had started celebrating the wicket but was left disappointed and enraged at Shashank’s poor fielding, and even PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta was left stunned and had her hands on her mouth.
