The 18th game of the IPL 2026 has Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clashing with Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 11, 2026. Axar Patel, captain of DC, won the toss and chose to bowl first.
While Sanju Samson played some delightful strokes, Ruturaj Gaikwad struggled, making 15 runs in 18 balls, before his dismissal by Axar Patel. Samson was then joined by Ayush Mhatre, and together they counterattacked the DC bowlers, adding 113 runs for the second wicket.
Mhatre was retired out by CSK for 59 in 36 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes, as they required some quick runs. Samson, meanwhile, became the first centurion of this IPL 19, scoring 115* in 56 balls with 15 fours and 4 sixes. Shivam Dube made 20* in 10 balls, as he propelled CSK to 212/2 in 20 overs.
Delhi Capitals started well with KL Rahul making 18 and Pathum Nissanka smashing 41 in 24 balls. However, once their partnership was broken, DC lost a bunch of wickets, including that of captain Axar Patel.
Patel was dismissed by Gurjapneet Singh in the 7th over, thanks to a brilliant catch by Sarfaraz Khan. Gurjapneet bowled a short delivery on the off-stump, and Axar tried to cut the ball hard.
However, he hit it in the air, and Sarfaraz, who was stationed at the backward point, made a big diving effort and caught the ball with both hands, with his whole body in the air.
Sarfaraz Khan celebrated the catch in style, going on a victory lap.
