Vaibhav Sooryavanshi starred with the bat in Rajasthan Royals' (RR) six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Friday (April 10).
Chasing 202 to win, the 15-year-old sensation launched a brutal attack on the RCB bowlers right from the word go, reaching his half-century in just 15 balls for the second time this season.
The southpaw showed no fear as he smashed experienced pacers like Josh Hazlwood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Sooryavanshi eventually perished for 78 off 26 balls, including 8 fours and 7 sixes, helping his team overhaul the stiff target with two overs to spare.
With this knock, Sooryavanshi also became the Orange Cap holder of the ongoing IPL season, surpassing his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal to top the run-scoring chart with a total of 200 runs from four innings.
After the match, the teenage prodigy experienced a moment to cherish. He approached Virat Kohli for an autograph on his Royals cap, and the RCB stalwart delivered with more than just a signature.
Kohli penned down a heartfelt message for the wonderkid, which read: “Dear Vaibhav, well done."
Coming to the match, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s dismissal a mini collapse as Shimron Hetmyer (0) and skipper Riyan Parag (3) fell cheaply. However, Dhruv Jurel (81* off 43) held the one end firmly and stitched an unbeaten 68-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja (24*) to take RR over the finishing line.
It was RR’s fourth consecutive win in the tournament and they continue to head the IPL 2026 points table, with 8 points from four outings.
