Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) 15-year-old batting sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, took the Royals Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to the cleaners in the 16th match of IPL 2026 at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Friday (April 10).
Chasing 202 to win, Sooryavanshi launched a brutal attack on the RCB bowlers right from the word go, reaching his half-century off 15 balls for the second time in the season.
The left-handed opener showed no fear as he smashed experienced pacers like Josh Hazlwood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to put RR in the driver’s seat.
After his fifty, Sooryavanshi hit three more sixes and eventually perished for 78 off 26 balls. During his whirlwind knock, studded with 8 fours and 7 sixes, the southpaw added 108 runs for the second wicket with Dhruv Jurel.
With this innings, Sooryavanshi also became the Orange Cap holder of the ongoing IPL season thus far. At the time of dismissal, RR needed 73 runs to win the game in the remaining 71 deliveries.
While Shimron Hetmyer (0) and skipper Riyan Parag (3) fell cheaply, Jurel (81* off 43) held the one end firmly and stitched an unbeaten 68-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja (24*) to take RR over the line with six wickets and 12 balls to spare.
Earlier, Rajat Patidar (63 off 40) played a captain's knock to help RCB post a formidable 201/8 on the board.
For his special knock, the RR teenage prodigy garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on social media platform X.
