Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen set social media on fire after a fan urged the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to hire him as their mentor.
This comes after the five-time IPL champions CSK struggled in the IPL 2026. Chennai Super Kings' IPL 19 campaign began with a loss to the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati. Following that loss, they lost their first home game of the season to the Punjab Kings, and in their third game, they were defeated by rivals Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru.
Seeing their favorite franchise struggling, a fan posted that CSK should bring in Kevin Pietersen as a mentor.
“Dear @ChennaiIPL, please bring @KP24 as a mentor," the user tweeted.
Kevin Pietersen quoted the fan’s tweet and showed his readiness to join the yellow franchise. He stated that the location was close to the Maldives, which makes it easy for him to travel.
"Yes, please. It is closer to the Maldives. Easier travel for me," Pietersen replied on Tuesday afternoon.
Even the Delhi Capitals, who had Pietersen as their mentor last year, shared a reaction and tagged KL Rahul.
To be noted, Pietersen was named the mentor of Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2025, and he had taken his family on a break to the Maldives mid-season. This made him a subject of ridicule within the DC dressing room. Pietersen resigned as DC mentor due to commitment issues before the IPL 2026, but is part of the league as a commentator.
