Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off in an exciting IPL 2026 match on April 5 in Bengaluru. RCB was asked to bat first by CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad after he won the toss.

Virat Kohli made 28 off 18 balls, while Phil Salt smashed 46 from 30 balls, including three fours and two sixes. However, the next three batters dismantled the CSK bowling attack. Devdutt Padikkal scored 50 off 29 balls, while Rajat Patidar and Tim David tore into the bowlers with an unbeaten 99-run stand off 36 balls for the fourth wicket.

Patidar remained 48* off 19 balls, hitting six sixes and a four, while Tim David smashed 70* off 25 balls, including three fours and eight sixes. RCB ended their 20 overs at 250/3.

During the RCB innings, an interesting incident took place featuring the RCB head coach Andy Flower, assistant coach Dinesh Karthik, captain Rajat Patidar, and the on-field umpires.

A time-out was taken, and players were having a short break. Patidar, Karthi,k and Flower were discussing something and were waiting for the drinks to come, but they couldn’t spot the water bottle.

It turns out that one of the on-field umpires were drinking water from the bottle intended for the RCB captain. Patidar was the first to see it, and as Flower and Karthik's gaze fell on the official, all three became extremely upset.

Patidar, Flower, and Karthik asked the umpire, much to the official's amusement, before attempting to transfer the responsibility. The umpire then pointed to a third guy, implying that he was the one who had given the bottle to them.

RCB thrashed CSK by 43 runs. CSK tried to put up a good fight, with Sarfaraz Khan making 50, and Prashant Veer making 43 runs, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 3/41 kept CSK to 207 runs.
