Nicholas Pooran was dismissed in a bizarre manner during the IPL 2026 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday (April 5).
Facing spinner Shivang Kumar in the 14th over of LSG’s chase, Pooran attempted a fine sweep at a ball angled down the leg side. He struck a bottom edge into the turf, but mistakenly believed the ball had gone past the wicketkeeper.
The southpaw instinctively set off for a run, but the ball had actually bounced straight into the gloves of Ishan Kishan, quickly whipped off the bails while the batter was well out of his crease.
It was a total brain fade moment, resulting in Pooran’s dismissal for just 1 run off 4 balls. His wicket reduced LSG to 105/4 in the chase of 157.
Earlier, led by pacer Mohammad Shami (2/9), LSG restricted the hosts to 156 for 9 in 20 overs. Heinrich Klaasen (62 off 41) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (56 off 33) struck crucial half-centuries to propel SRH to a competitive total after the top-order collapse.
In reply, LSG overhauled the target with five wickets and one delivery to spare. Skipper Rishabh Pant starred in the chase with an unbeaten knock of 68 in 50 balls.
