The 9th IPL 2026 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) took place in Ahmedabad on April 4, 2026. Riyan Parag led RR, who won the toss and decided to bat first, while Rashid Khan led GT in Shubman Gill's absence.
In 6.2 overs, openers Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (31, 5 fours, 1 six) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (55, 6 fours, 3 sixes) contributed 70 runs. Only Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer (18) achieved double digits after their dismissed. As RR scored 210/6 in 20 overs, Jurel top-scored with 75 in 42 balls with five fours and as many sixes.
In response, Sai Sudharsan took the charge, while GT debutant Kumar Kushagra made 18 in 14 balls. Jos Buttler then made 26 in 14 balls, while Sudharsan made 73 in 44 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. While GT looked good to chase the total, Ravi Bishnoi’s 4/41 in 4 overs in the middle took the wind out of their charge.
However, the match got interesting as Rashid Khan made 24 in 16 balls and Kagiso Rabada (23* in 16 balls), and they added 43 runs for the 8th wicket. It was only thanks to Tushar Deshpande, who bowled a brilliant last over for RR, defending 11 runs with success.
GT only managed 204/8 in 20 overs, and RR won the game by 6 runs. This was RR’s second win in the second game of the IPL 2026. RR will next face MI in Guwahati on April 7, while GT will clash with DC in Delhi on April 8.
The cricket fraternity was all praises for a brilliant game by RR, singling out Tushar Deshpande for his brilliant bowling in the final over.
