Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka’s intense, on-field post-match conversation with captain Rishabh Pant after a six-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2026 on Wednesday (April 1) prompted online outrage, evoking memories of his public confrontation with KL Rahul in 2024.
A day later, the franchise released an "unfiltered" footage to suggest the interaction was actually friendly.
The post showed Goenka patting Pant on the back, sharing a hug, and appearing at ease, which the team captioned: “Not everything you see is the true story, here's the unfiltered post-match vibes, when cameras don't cut".
However, the fans were unconvinced by the damage control. Many of them accused the LSG management of staging a follow-up video to repair the owner's image.
Here are the reactions:
Earlier, Sanjiv Goenka steered clear of directly addressing the controversy, instead issuing a message of support for his team and a focus on long-term goals.
“This is a long season, and moments like these are part of building something meaningful. I have full confidence in our captain and the team to respond with strength. To our fans, thank you for your support at Ekana today, we will come back stronger. The story of LSG this season is far from written,” the LSG owner wrote on X.
Lucknow Super Giants will look to move past the off-field controversy when they face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 5.
