Delhi Capitals (DC) clashed with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match 5 of the ongoing IPL 2026 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on April 1, 2026. DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram both went early for 7 and 11 runs, respectively, with Pant being run out at the non-striker's end and Markram being bowled by Axar. Ayush Badoni followed shortly for a duck, as Mitchell Marsh stood at the other end.
LSG batters had a difficult day in the field, with Marsh scoring 35 runs and Abdul Samad scoring 36 in 25 balls, with contributions from Mukul Choudhary (14) and Shahbaz Ahmed (15*), bringing the total to 141 in 18.4 overs. Lungi Ngidi led DC with 3/27, while T. Natarajan had 3/29.
Delhi Capitals were rocked by LSG pacers as Mohammad Shami dismissed KL Rahul on the first ball of the DC innings. Pathum Nissanka followed soon for one run, while Nitish Rana’s scratchy 15-run knock was ended by Mohsin Khan. Captain Axar Patel was clean bowled by Prince Yadav for a golden duck.
However, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs rebuilt the innings and added 119* runs for the fifth wicket. Rizvi made 70* in 47 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes, while Stubbs made 39* in 32 balls with 3 fours and 1 six, to ensure DC reached the target safely in 17.1 overs and won the game by 6 wickets. Prince Yadav took 2/20 for LSG.
The cricket fraternity lauded the Sameer Rizvi-Tristan Stubbs combo, who took DC out of trouble and won the game with a clinical partnership.
