Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 28, 2026, in the IPL 2026 tournament opener. RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first.
SHR lost their top three of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, and Nitish Kumar Reddy for 29 runs on the board. Heinrich Klaasen (31) and Ishan Kishan added 97 runs for the fourth wicket to get SRH back on track.
Kishan looked good with the bat, getting to a 27-ball fifty, and went on a rampage afterwards, scoring 80 in 38 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes to his name. He looked good for a century in the IPL 2026 opening match, only for Phil Salt to end his entertaining knock.
RCB debutant Abhinandan Singh bowled a wide full toss to Kishan in the 16th over, and Kishan just hit it towards the point boundary. The ball looked good to cross the boundary, only for Phil Salt to come flying in from the backward point region.
Salt dived with his right hand out, and the ball stuck to his hand as he completed a brilliant catch to stun the SRH camp. Ishan Kishan trudged back to the pavilion, robbed of a well-deserved century.
