Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are training hard for the IPL 2026 tournament, and legend MS Dhoni has been overseeing the youngsters in the squad. CSK’s IPL 2026 will begin on March 30 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Guwahati.
Known for putting their trust in experienced and veteran players, CSK surprised everyone in the IPL 2026 auction, where they punted on youngsters, spending INR 14.20 crores each for Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma, amongst others.
Veer has been touted as a special talent, and CSK has trusted the left-handed all-rounder a lot for the IPL 2026 tournament. And the youngster has started well by impressing the one who matters in MS Dhoni with his batting exploits in the nets.
In a CSK practice video released on social media, Veer can be seen batting in the nets while Dhoni stands behind him. The segment is quick, yet it conveys plenty. As Veer raises one wonderfully through the offside, Dhoni reacts instantly: "Shottt."
A bit later, Veer scoops the ball, while Dhoni tracks it and indicates four. Then comes the straight shot, and the response from behind the stumps is the same: "Shottt."

On the surface, it appears like a veteran professional is savoring a few clean shots in the net. However, in the CSK ecosystem, Dhoni's approval has always held more weight. The franchise's younger players frequently discuss how even the tiniest phrase from him can calm anxieties, boost confidence, and make them feel like they belong.
Veer was not just swinging wildly during a practice hit. The strokes that elicited Dhoni's reaction - a lofted drive, a scoop, and a straight drive - indicated range, touch, and confidence.
