Chennai Super Kings (CSK) icon MS Dhoni has hit the nets ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, expected to start on March 28.
Taking to social media, CSK on Sunday (March 1) shared a video of Dhoni’s batting practice session. Just a day back, the 44-year-old landed in Chennai to join the franchise’s pre-season camp.
In the clip, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was also seen batting in the adjacent nets while new recruit Sarfaraz Khan was padded up and ready to bat.
Here’s the video:
Having retired from international cricket in 2020, Dhoni has continued his franchise cricket career, featuring for CSK. The veteran wicketkeeper has played for the Chennai-based franchise in all seasons barring 2016 and 2017, when CSK were banned and Dhoni featured for Rising Pune Supergiants.
CSK endured a poor IPL 2025 campaign, finishing last in the points table with just four wins from 14 league games. Dhoni was also appointed stand-in captain of CSK following an injury to regular skipper Gaikwad early last season.
The 2026 season could well be Dhoni’s last year playing in the IPL, with age not on his side. Dhoni will turn 45 in July and is already one of the oldest players ever to play in the league.
