Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has provided an update on safety precautions at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) season.
The Bengaluru-based franchise has stated that it intends to deploy powerful AI-based video analytics to better crowd management at the venue.
After RCB won the IPL 2025 season, celebrations in Bengaluru became hectic when a stampede broke out outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The incident sparked safety concerns and prompted speculation over whether the Royal Challengers Bengaluru would hold their IPL 2026 home games at the site. The stadium's standing was also impacted by the circumstance, as it was unable to host a few games during the 2025 Women's World Cup.
Now, RCB has sent a proposal to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and formally proposed the installation of 300 to 350 AI-enabled cameras at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to improve crowd management and fan safety.
Not only this, but the RCB has also revealed that it will bear the entire cost of installing the AI cameras, which comes to INR 4.50 crores.
AI-enabled cameras will help KSCA and law enforcement monitor crowd movement, manage queues, and prevent unauthorized access at the stadium. By tracking entries and exits in real time, the system aims to reduce risks during high-attendance matches and enhance fan safety, especially during IPL and other marquee events.
RCB has partnered with Staqu to implement the project, leveraging its expertise in AI-driven public safety solutions. The system analyzes video, audio, and text data in real time to detect incidents like violence or intrusion early, enabling quicker investigations, proactive decisions, and faster law-enforcement response.

In a formal communication to the KSCA, RCB has proposed the installation of 300 to 350 AI-enabled cameras at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This advanced surveillance technology will empower the KSCA and law enforcement agencies to efficiently manage crowd movement, ensure disciplined queueing, monitor unauthorised access through real-time tracking of entries and exits, and significantly enhance overall fan safety. RCB has further committed to bearing the entire one time cost of this initiative, estimated at approximately ₹4.5 crore,” RCB posted on social media.
