Deepak Hooda is still on the list of bowlers who have questionable bowling actions. As he did during the previous IPL season, the 30-year-old all-rounder, who presently plays for Rajasthan, remains under the suspect bowling action category.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction on December 16, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed the IPL teams of its stance about Deepak Hooda's bowling action on Saturday, December 13, cricbuzz reported.
Hooda, a part-time off-spin bowler, played for Chennai Super Kings in seven IPL games the previous season, although he did not bowl in any of them.
But since then, he has bowled six overs in BCCI domestic competitions: five overs in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and one over in the Ranji Trophy.
He was last seen bowling during Rajasthan's match against Jharkhand on December 8. At the match in Ahmedabad, he bowled three overs and took three wickets for 24 runs. He might be barred from bowling in the IPL if he is called for questionable action once more.
Hooda, who has represented India in 10 ODIs and 21 T20Is, features in the AL1 (all-rounder) category at the Abu Dhabi auction with a base price of INR 75 lakh.
Abid Mushtaq, a 29-year-old left-arm spinner from Jammu and Kashmir with a base price of INR 30 lakh, is the only other player with a suspicious action. The 29-year-old off-spinner from Karnataka, KL Shrijith, was banned from bowling in the IPL last season. The banned list also includes Madhya Pradesh bowler Rishabh Chauhan.
